Celebrating Our 5 Year Anniversary

Today marks five years of being with my fiancé, Adam. It also marks our last anniversary before turning back the clocks and celebrating years of marriage. As the years go by, my relationship with Adam continues to strengthen as the foundation in my life. To share being together for half a decade, I wanted to recount some of my favorite fun facts about our relationship, how we met, and what I have learned from him along the way.

For starters…

Adam and I met in high school when I was fourteen years old! We dated a little here and there during that time but with a slight age gap (he was a senior and I was a freshman), we were definitely at different stages of our life.

He reached back out to me six years later – the biggest surprise in my life, but also the best.

Everything I have learned from him…

To never give up, ever. It does not matter the hardships that come your way, fighting through and being strong and not letting pain take over you is the most important (while I have mastered this in some aspects of my life, Adam would still say the fact that I am terrified of lizards is a big problem). I can do anything I put my mind to. We can build a strategic future together. To always keep learning – be curious, be aware. That sometimes being confrontational is a good thing (still working on this…). And no matter what, we do not give up on each other.

My favorite things about Adam…

Other than his charming handsomeness, Adam is extremely smart, intellectual, creative – all of the above & more. He is a scientist which has opened up whole new ways of thinking for me and it has been an inspiration to watch him grow and unfold in his field. I love that he takes such good care of our baby puppy, Lola. He always wants to make things better – whether its a situation or an emotional state. He has high aspirations for himself individually in his career. He has high aspirations for me individually in my career. He is loving, puts me first, and has the same love for Mid Century Modern design & furniture – win, win!

Fun facts about our relationship…

We didn’t exactly have the best first apartment living together experiences. Our first apartment was next to a couple who ragingly fought at 2:30 am and played terrible trap music. Across the hall was a dysfunctional alcoholic who screamed for hours each day. Our tub somehow overflowed from the bottom up?! The list goes on…I truly can’t believe we lasted a little over a year there.

We are obsessed with Palm Springs (which you know if you follow me on Instagram since we frequent there consistently) and Mid Century Modern furniture.

I am the early-bird and he is the night owl.

He forgets to eat and I eat too much.

He is the cook in the house (thank god).

One of our favorite things to do together is walk around antique shops and get lost.

You know when you need something to fight for because you can’t fight for yourself? Adam gives me that everyday, easy, no questions asked. He is the reason I want to be strong and successful and happy. He is the reason I fight through life’s challenges. He is the reason I have things to look forward to. That sort of a bond is miraculous in my opinion, so I am here making sure I nurture and love and put our relationship first at every moment of the day.

With that, Happy Anniversary Adam. I love you. We are not two we are one.
