BHLDN Soiree & A Wedding Update

To all the brides, wedding-obsessed, and dreamers – this is for you:

I attended BHLDN’s “Sip-n-See” event last week at the Anthropologie in Carlsbad. For those of you who aren’t familiar with BHLDN, it is Anthropologie’s bridal suite and fun wedding fact: I found my wedding dress there!

The Sip-n-See soirée was romantically curated: champagne, cupcakes, party favors, DRESSES, and a fun Photo Booth. The event was put together to showcase some of San Diego’s wedding vendors – and that it did. The list of vendors included Union Booth (photo booth!), White Lace Events for party planning, The Vintage Nib for calligraphy, Susie Cakes Bakery for all the bite-sized desserts, Farm Tables and More for furniture rentals, Brittani Rose for paper art and goods, Petal & Joy for flowers, and Petula Pea Photography for photos of the dreamy night.

These events are so ideal for brides because it helps them celebrate the process (which can get stressful!) and bring the overwhelming amount of inspiration online into one curated, focused party. Also BHLDN’s new bridal collection is their best yet. Price points for every bride and styles for every bride (while also being cohesive) – from boho, to modern, to princess. I was eyeing a few cocktail dresses for my rehearsal dinner too…

So after prancing around the “Sip-n-See” event and having my eye wander in way too many beautiful directions, it made me start to think about where I am in the wedding process!

As you may know, my fiancé Adam and I decided to have a long engagement – two years to be exact. We are currently 10 months away from our wedding and it has finally hit me: I am in planning zone! When you have a long engagement there are a few pros and cons.

The pros are you have SO much time to dream, get inspired, research, look around, sleep on your decisions, etc. The time really helped me get everything I wanted organized in my mind without the stress of deadlines or the reality of contracts. Going into the second year of our engagement, Adam and I confidently knew what we wanted.

The cons are that everyone tells you, “Oh you have FOREVER until you get married…you don’t need to do that right now!” which can kind of kill your bridal excitement. No bride wants to be held back when she is dreaming and planning and people’s reactions towards a long engagement can put your buzz on hold. Not that I let it fully, but you can’t help but want the people around you to run with the wind like you are.

Now that we are 10 months out…it is go-go-go time! It also doesn’t feel as crazy, rushed, or stressful. I basically have most everything planned out. We have locked down our venue, photographer, wedding planner, videographer, my wedding dress and bridal party. In the works are locking down our DJ and wedding invitations – which we have chosen, just finalizing last minute details!

THAT is the perks of a long engagement. When it was ready to finalize, I was ready!

The reality of planning a wedding is coming to fruition and Adam and I are so excited – not stressed anymore. I got out all my stressed jitters around our engagement party (photos coming soon!) and now I am just ready for a beautiful, romantic weekend to get married.

To the brides out there: Where are you in the process?
