Hotel Bucket List by scout

While planning my wedding, I have started building an interest and developing a love for hotels. Upon our venue search, my fiancé Adam and I fell in love with Palm Springs for two reasons: 1) all of the midcentury modern retro architecture and 2) all of the unique hotels.

The selection of hotels in Palm Springs was unlike anything I had ever seen. It opened my eyes to how a hotel can create an ambiance and be transportive and a fully immersive experience – the way a restaurant or spa can be. With that, I started following new hotels popping up here and there that were paying more and more attention to architecture, guest experience and luxury.

And in the meantime, I’ve created a nice little bucket list of hotels I want to visit in the near future. Here is my current hotel bucket list that might serve you perfectly for a romantic getaway, honeymoon or girls trip.

1. Be Tulum in Tulum, Mexico

The first moment I laid eyes on Be Tulum’s website, I fell in immediate love. This jungle, beach, rustic, modern, and luxury fusion had me imagining a romantic and private getaway with the beach just steps away and rich culinary destinations at our fingertips.

I stumbled across Hotel Be Tulum while doing research for our honeymoon, since we will be going to Tulum to celebrate our newlywed status come January. So perhaps a little visit or stay at Be Tulum will be in order – or at least a trip to one of their four restaurants and bars, which serve seasonal food. There is even a raw bar with oysters – it is just speaking to my heart.

Visit Be Tulum here.

2. The Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve

I never thought I was one for the rainforest until I wrote about The Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve and their imaginative lodgings (think volcanos, architecture inspired by mushroom and full nature immersion) on The Venue Report.

After looking at each picture on their website, my imagination went wilder and wilder. This tucked away in the Chilean Patagonian rainforest hotel looks like more than a fairytale than a reality. Serene, secluded and relaxing. Can I unplug now?

Visit The Huilo Huilo Biological Reserve here.

3. The Goodland in Santa Barbara, California

I first found The Goodland on Instagram and decided then and there (about a year ago) that this is where I would have my bachelorette party. Fast forward to present day and it’s confirmed – I am having my bachelorette party at The Goodland this Fall!

What first drew me to The Goodland was it’s beach meets Mid Century Modern meets retro vibe. I fell weak to its charm!

I am excited to be able to cross this off my bucket list with all my best ladies for a weekend of relaxation, good food and a margarita or two in just a few months.

Visit The Goodland here.

4. Time Hotel in Manhattan, New York

Mid Century Modern, neutrals, opulence and luxury are the words I use to define The Time Hotel in Manhattan. It’s got that touch of old school air to it while fully amplifying its modern accents.

Nothing gets me more excited than a refined design. Also a stand alone tub in their Penthouse? That is always the deal sealer for me.

Visit The Time here.

 5. Korakia in Palm Springs, California

We have all seen the Moroccon oasis that is Korakia on Instagram in all of its picturesque glory. I have merely visited the hotel for less than an hour and walked the property. Tucked away behind the main strip of downtown Palm Springs, this hotel provides a different world for the desert dweller.

An instant rush of serenity runs through you – like a jolt of meditation. It is romantic, it’s whimsical, it’s transportive, it’s another world. A weekend getaway here to unplug with my fiancé could probably cure any hardship.

Visit Korakia here.

6. Urban Cowboy in Nashville, Tennessee

I have never visited the South but Urban Cowboy is making me beg to head out there. This boutique spot has all sorts of funky and eclectic features mixed with the traditional wild, wild west themes. Not to mention that little touch of hipster bringing it fully into today’s age.

When I think of staying at the Urban Cowboy I think of having fun. Good old-fashioned FUN.

Visit Urban Cowboy here.

7. Boro Hotel in Long Island City, New York

Swooning over my minimalistic sensibilities – add in some concrete and industrial accents and I am full with admiration. The Boro Hotel gets it all right.

I can move in, right?
